Has anyone ever planted dwarf corn or wildlife corn? Got a bag ordered since our spot is low area that naturally floods and with the ears being closer to the ground it sounded like a good idea. Just wondered if anyone plants it and how they plant. Havent decided if we're gonna drill it or broadcast it

can't say as i know much about the topic of dwarf corn. however, drilled corn seed will always trump a broadcast seed. i wouldn't think hybrid would be any different.

I would drill it if you can. I have broadcasetd and drilled it and dilling is much better and you wil get a better stand. Now with dwarf corn, I have never had much luck. I tried it twice and both times i have had limited success. I have talked to a fair amount of people who say the same thing. That being said, get a soil test and put down the recomended fert/lime and you could get a good stand. Both of my flooded corn spots one flood to about 24" max with the average being 12 to 18". I have normal size corn with ears about waste to chest high and I havent had any problems getting ducks in there, so we just use roundup ready corn which gets much better yields

thanks for the advice guys. Swamp going to do a little work on the place thursday hopefully planting next week I'll try to put some pictures up when I can

that looks awsome!!
i smell slammerization.
is there a nearby creek that floods over to flood your area or is it just "potholely" enough to hold rain water.
is this the first time you have planted anything in this area.
please post some pixs when it floods up in the fall.. i would really like to see the finished product.

there's a creek a couple hundred yards from the slough we just don't have the money to invest in pumps right now. Its just a field run off that will flood up to 2.5 feet in some parts but mainly about 1 foot deep every where else. It will flood up in winter when we start getting normal rain fall. Last season we planted millet in early September when we found out we could plant it but because of the drought it never sprouted until maybe October and grew to about thigh high before the first frost killed it.
