Although blue-winged teal numbers were significantly higher in Louisiana before opening day than they were last year, they remained well below the long-term average for September. Hunting success varied over the weekend, with some teal hunters enjoying fast and furious action while others saw mediocre flights. It was a fairly simple proposition—if you were lucky enough to be where the teal wanted to be, you did well.
