Smartweed Marsh WMA

Ducks Unlimited will install a new well on this Wildlife Management Area, owned and managed by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. The well will provide NGPC with a supplemental source of water to manage wetland habitat. In 2008, DU transferred the 80-acre Himmelberg property to NGPC as an addition to the Smartweed Marsh WMA. Funding to acquire the Himmelberg property was provided by DU, the North American Wetlands Conservation Council (NAWCC) and NGPC. Funding to install the well has been secured from an additional NAWCC grant secured by DU in 2008. This tract is located in Nuckolls County near Edgar, Nebraska.
